1902 - [ACCIDENT]
A very painful accident happened to Mr. Denis Cooney, one of our old and respected residents, on Sunday morning last. He was feeding the cows in one of his paddocks, about a quarter of a mile from his home, when one cow horned another, the latter striking against Mr. Cooney and knocking him down. It was found that one of his thighs was broken. He was quickly borne to his residence, and Dr. McCreadie was sent for.
On account of the swollen nature of the limb the doctor was unable to set the bone. On Tuesday Dr. Nickoll, of Mudgee, arrived to consult with Dr. McCreadie. Mr Cooney has been very low, and it is to be hoped that he will come out of tho trying ordeal. He has suffered intense agony.

The bride was attired in white silk, the bodice tastefully trimmed with insertion and chiffon. Miss Kate Dowd (the bride's cousin) was the bridesmaid, and she wore ciel-blue silk voile with champagne-coloured insertion, and a pretty gold brooch, the bridegroom's gift. Mr. Sullivan gave his daughter away and her cousin, Mr. Denis Cooney acted as best man. Grey crepeline was worn by the bride as her going away dress, and the honeymoon is being spent in New Zealand.

1906 - Death.
It is with feelings of the most profound regret that I chronicle the sudden death of Mr. Denis Cooney, one of the oldest and most respected residents of this district. Deceased left Gulgong on Thursday morning in his buggy with the object of inspecting a number of road contracts in the Coolah district. During his trip he contracted a cold, which was followed by inflammation of the stomach. On Sunday evening Constable Milling started from Leadville with him, his object being to get him medical attendance at Gulgong. The patient expired while coming down Salvation Hill, almost within sight of home. The blow was a heavy and unexpected one for his wife and family.
The funeral took place on Tuesday after-noon, the following being among the largest ever seen here.
