The United States Hotel was located next to the Billiard Room in the main street of Canadian Lead. The hotel was built by Joseph Deitz in 1872, the third hotel he'd built since gold was found in Gulgong. He held the licence until 1880 when he sold out to James Glazier, and in 1885 it was sold again to John Stott.
The Stott family ran the hotel until 1893, then as a shop. The building later became the Post Office and saw many families living there. It was the last remaining building of Canadian Lead and stood the test of time for over 110 years before it was demolished in the 1980s.
