MARTIN'S CORNER

Martin's Corner Store
On left: Patricia Harris nee Martin

This corner shop was built by Cecil Lyons in the early 50s.

In the late 50s into the 60s it was run as a corner store by Ron Wood and Betty (nee O'Neill).

After them it was known as Scott's Shop (run by Leonie and Lester Scott).

Next were Bob Harrison and Pam (nee Deville)

Harold Martin owned the store in the 1970s and lived across the road.

The position of the store made it convenient for town children heading to the public school or swimming pool. School lunches came from this shop before there was a canteen at the school.
