1912 - Uarbry. - (From Our Correspondents)
I have to report the sudden death of Mr. Hugh J. Waterford, grazier, or Cainbil Creek, which resulted from heart disease, from which complaint the deceased gentleman had been a long sufferer. He and his wife were out in the paddocks riding on Thursday, tending the sheep, when the latter noticed the former's riderless horse, and investigation found her husband lying dead close at hand, death apparently coming while he was in the saddle. Fortunately for the poor widow, some rabbiters were close at hand, and the body was conveyed home. Coroner's inquiry was dispensed with, as the nature of the complaint bespoke a similar demise at any time. The body was laid to rest in the Uarbry cemetery on Friday afternoon. Mr Denis McGrath officiating at the graveside. We extend our deepest sympathy to the suddenly widowed lady who is a daughter of the late Mr W Rains of Uarbry, also to the other bereaved relatives and friends of the deceased.

1929 - Obituary - MR. McGRATH.
Mr. Denis McGrath, who died at Cronulla on Sunday morning last, was one of the oldest and most highly respected residents of the Mudgee district, where he resided for the best part of a lifetime. A brother of the late James McGrath, a Lawson's Creek veteran, deceased spent many years in that locality, and later transferred his activities to Gulgong, where he made many warm friends.
About 30 years ago he settled on the land at Cainbil Creek, Uarbry, and there with members of the family, he lived an industrious life. Some time ago he decided to retire, and went to reside at Cronulla, leaving his son Denis in charge at Cainbil Creek. A fine old character the late Denis McGrath was justly held in the highest esteem right throughout the district, and his death will be generally regretted. He is survived by Denis and James (sons), of Cainbil Creek, and Connie and Bridget (daughters), of Cronulla. A married daughter also resides in the metropolis.
The funeral will leave the R.C. Church, Gulgong, at 11 o'clock on Saturday next for the Uarbry cemetery.
