Ellen Roberts is thought
to have been born in 1843 in Ireland.
Ellen Roberts married Thomas O'Brien on 21st
in Ennis, County Clare, Ireland.
They moved to Australia where he took up police work in rural New South Wales. They had 8 children, but lost a daughter, Johanna, in infancy.
Ellen died 2nd August 1879, at the age of 36, and is buried in Hargraves. Three years after Ellen's death, her daughter, Ann (born 24 June 1863) died at the age of 18 years and 10 months (died 13 May 1892). Ann is also buried in the Hargraves Cemetery.
Thomas was left with 6 children between the ages of 3 and 14.
