CORNELIUS WADE

Cornelius Wade was born in 1838, the son of Thomas Wade and Elizabeth Carter who arrived in Sydney in 1848 then moved to Lue, Mudgee and Gulgong.

Cornelius  was their firstborn of three children who were born and raised around Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire. Another three were born in the Mudgee district. 

Cornelius Wade married Louisa MAYBERRY (MAYBURY) on 16 December 1861 at Mudgee.

Cornelius Wade was ten years old when his family migrated to Australia. He had been born on July 12 1838, at Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire, England. 

Cornelius' first home was on a large property, approximately ten miles from Gulgong, on the Wellington Road, at Biraganbil. His second property was at Guntawang which was three miles from Gulgong. He worked as a labourer. Cornelius died accidentally in a storm from a cerebral haemorrhage and exhaustion; his horse returned home without him. 

Louisa Wade nee Maybury was a storekeeper who, when a ship was in, used to ride her horse into town to collect the mail.
