1950 - [OLD LICENSEE VISITS]
Mr. and Mrs. F. McGarry, of Five Dock, arrived in town last Friday to spend a few days with the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Evans, of Wilbetree Street. Many years ago, Mr. McGarry was licensee of the now delicensed former Commercial Hotel which was situated in premises where the White Cafe now stands. He was later licensee of an hotel at Maryvale.
1950 - Death of Former Gulgong Hotelkeeper
A former hotelkeeper of Gulgong Mr. Fergus George McGarry, passed away at the Balmain District Hospital on September 22, aged 68 years.
Deceased conducted an hotel where the White cafe now stands in Mayne Street and was very highly esteemed. Later, he was licensee of an hotel at Mary Vale and had resided at Griffith and Five Dock (Sydney).
The late Mr. McGarry is survived by a widow (daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Evans, of Wilbetree Street) and daughter. The funeral, which took place at Rookwood, was attended by Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Evans and Mr. Wal. K. Evans, all of Gulgong. Our sincere sympathy is extended to the bereaved ones.
