Frederick Darcy Smith, known as Darcy, was born on 27 May 1903, Canadian Lead, NSW. He was one of eight children born to Mary and Edward Smith.
Darcy died on 17 February 1971 at Balmain Hospital.

Darcy had a distinguished career in the then Bank of NSW (now Westpac) but always remained a country boy at heart and loved to find people with whom to have a yarn. He was very family orientated and knew most if not all of his aunts, uncles and cousins plus stories of his ancestors.

He loved sport, especially tennis, and was considered for Davis Cup inclusion in his time but he opted for a steady job with the Bank. Darcy played lawn bowls at competition level later in life. 1925 - Wedding.At St. John's Church on Wednesday, Canon Parr united in marriage Ivy, daughter of Mr. L. Roth, Wilbetree, and Mr. Clive Smith Canadian. The bride was given away by her father, and was attended by her sister, Doris, as bridesmaid. Mr. Darcy Smith, brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man. The wedding breakfast was held at the residence of the bride's parents.
1929 - BORE AT CANADIAN.Mr. C. Jeffries recently completed a bore for Mr. Clive Smith, the well-known farmer of "Norbiton," Canadian Lead. The site was divined by Mr. W. Baldock. of Gulgong and a supply of 1200 gallons per hour was struck at a death of 113 feet. The water came up 40 feet in the bore.

1948 - [NORBITON SOLD]
Mr. C. W. J. Smith, who has disposed of his famous 'Norbiton' property at Canadian Lead to Mr. Reg Roth, is to be tendered a farewell dinner by the Gulgong branch of the Wheat Growers' Union next month.
