Frank Halloran Park is built on the site of Gulgong's earliest cemetery. It contains 308 unmarked graves dating between 22-12-1868 and 1-2-1873.

RECOLLECTIONS

My grandmother Jessie Mackie was a nurse at Gulgong Hospital in the early 1900s and told me of a story of an epidemic that hit the town, lots of deaths and 17 people were buried in that site in one week.

A subsequent huge fire decimated the cemetery crosses.
