William Henry Barnett was a wheelright and blacksmith in Gulgong in the 1870s.
W. Barnett Blacksmith - Herbert Street between the Belmore Hotel and Frost's Railway Store, who was selling general hardware & produce at the corner of Little Bayly Street.

In 1876 he purchased the block of land belonging to John Thomas Frost on the corner of Herbert and Little Bayly Street, Gulgong.

In 1896, William married Elizabeth Ellenor Biddle (NSW BDM 2047/1896) registered in Windsor. She married at the age of 35 and died on 4 Ocober 1907 at the age of 44 from "MERASMUS TUBERCULAR PEROTONITIS PHTHESIS" of 2 years' duration.
They had one daughter, Mary Anne born in 1896 (NSW BDM 30992/1896).
1924 - DEATH OF MR. H. BARNETT.Many of the old hands will remember Mr Harry Barnett, who for many years was in the employ of Mr. H. Gudgeon, of Herbert Street. News came to Gulgong Thursday of his death in the hospital at Colac, Victoria, where the deceased had resided for some years. The late Mr. Barnett came to Gulgong in the early 70's when the gold rush was booming, and in conjunction with his father conducted a blacksmith and wheelwright's business in Herbert-st.Later he went to Richmond, New South Wales, working at his trade, but later returned to Gulgong in the employ of Mr. H. Gudgeon, where he resided until a few years ago. Then he went to live at Colac. Deceased was twice married his first wife being a Miss Beddie [sic], of Windsor, who died at Gulgong. Later he married Ensign Abbot, a well-known Salvatiton Army officer, who is still living. He had one child a daughter...
