At night [after a sports day held by returned soldiers] a concert and dance were held in the Town Hall in aid of the funds. The function was admirably organised by Misa Eileen Saunders and Mr. Will Whitehead, whose splendid works in coaching the singers was fully demonstrated during the evening. The hall was crowded, and the audience was unstinted in its repeated appreciations of the singing by the entertainers. The stage was prettily set out, and the other surrounding were made more pleasant by the fact of the hall having been renovated. The costumes worn by the young entertainers were most attractive, and were of Miss Saunders' own designing. A section of the ch--- from 'Bing Boys on Broadway' was played as an overture by Mrs. C. Watt, who acted as accompaniste during the evening.
The following items were rendered: — Opening chorus, 'Helen of Troy,' by Miss E. Smith, and Misses E. Fyfe, D. Hogan, S. Curran, V. and A. Watts, and E. Tuxford; duet, 'You're the Sort of a Kind of Girl,' by Miss E. Saunders and Mr. Whitehead; 'I Want to be There,' by Miss E. Smith, assisted by chorus of boys and girls; 'Arizona,' by little Hazel Hoy, who achieved a great 'hit' in her singing and impersonation of a boy; song. 'Yon Would Never Know the Old Home Town of Mine.' by Mr. Hylton Green; comic song, 'Why am I always the Bridesmaid,' by Mr. W. White head, who was becomingly attired in the dress of the opposite sex; duet. 'If You Were the Only Girl in the World,' by Misses Hazel Hoy and Alma Watts; duet, 'Give me a Little Cosy Corner,' by Misses S. Curran and E. Smith (boy), assisted by chorus of Misses E. Fyfe, V. Watts, L. Hogan (boys) and P. Maguire. E. Tuxford, and Alma Watts (gifts); song. 'Story Book Ball,' adapted from all the nursery rhymes, by Miss E. Saunders, who also sang with equal success. 'Wouldn't You Like to Try and Teach Me'; song and chorus, 'Paderiwiski,' by Mr. W. White head, with Miss E. Smith as 'Paderiwiski'; characteristic song, 'Maoriland,'' by Miss E. Saunders, with Misses E. Smith and V. Watts, dressed in Maori costume, as dancers. Each item was loudly applauded. All the entertainers were most successful. Besides the promoters, Misses E. Smith, Hazel Hoy and S. Curran gave creditable renditions.

McKay, who assisted to make the concert a success by assisting at the rehearsals, and otherwise giving valuable assistance. The thanks of the promoters are also due to the Gulgong Brass Band, and Messrs. Jas. Loneragan (Gulgong) Co., the latter for providing decoration materials.
