Sarah Brooks (nee Flack) arrived with parents John Flack (1810-1880), Mary A (nee Hart, 1813-1885) in 1858 at the age of 17 on the ship Castilian. Sarah was born 2 February 1841, Bottisham, East Cambridgeshire, England. Sarah's father, John Flack, was a blacksmith.

1924 - MRS SARAH BROOKS
The death took place at Gulgong on Friday afternoon last, of Mrs. Sarah Brooks, a very old and highly esteemed resident of Gulgong. Deceased, who was born at East Gilford 83 years ago, resided at Mudgee for some years, but spent the greater part of her life at Gulgong, having resided here for over 50 years. The late Mrs. Brooks was well known throughout the district. She leaves a family of nine children to mourn. They are George, Robert, James, Mrs. Kable (Gulgong). Mrs. Dawton (Wellington), Mrs. Waite (Sydney), William (Lithgow), Mrs. Bayly (Kandos), Samuel (Cobar). The remains were laid to rest in the Church of England portion of the general cemetery on Saturday afternoon last, the Rev. C. J. Allen officiating. Messrs. McGowan and Bayliss had charge of the funeral arrangements.

John Morton alias Jack the Loafer, charged on warrant with bestiality, also charged on warrant with obtaining 15s. from Sarah Brooks, by means of false pretences, has been arrested by Detective Hannan. Committed for trial at Mudgee Circuit Court for first offence, and at Mudgee Quarter Sessions for second offence.
