ELIZABETH MUIR

  • Elizabeth Muir - (born 1836 at Guntawang NSW BDM 8437/1836 V18368437 45C) married John Boyle (also a shepherd) at the age of 15 in Mudgee in 1853 and they had 7 children. Their children included:
    • John 1854
    • Mary 1855 (died young?)
    • Henry 1857-1931; married Ada Garland in Gulgong in 1890 and they had 5 children: 
      • Rosetta, 
      • George, 
      • Thomas, 
      • William,
      • Susannah.
    • Annie 1860 (died young?)
    • James 1861 (aged 6y 7 m at mother's death)
    • Thomas 1864 (aged 2.5y at mother's death)
    • Elizabeth 1867 (aged 2 days at mother's death)
Elizabeth died aged 30 at Biraganbil on 15 February 1867 (NSW BDM 6269/1867) from "inflammation of the lungs" of 10 days duration. She was buried at Guntawang on 19 February 1867. 

Elizabeth's husband, John Boyle, was born in England in about 1813. He arrived in Australia in about 1838 and was 39 when he married 15-year-old Elizabeth in Mufgee. He worked as a shepherd. He died 29 December 1865 at Wyaldra. His cause of death was "poisoned by taking strychnine". He was 52 years old.
