Tobacconist & Colonial Wines shop, detail
This shop originally sold tobacco, cigars, choice wines and bread and acted as a Cricketing Depot that stocked "bats, balls, stumps and gloves of every description". By the time Beaufoy Merlin returned to Gulgong to take more photos the shop had also become "pie and coffee rooms", no doubt catering to the theatregoers at the Prince of Wales theatre next door.
Note: Piesenti's Cafe de France was located on the other side of the theatre.
