The party was held at the Theatre Royal of the Turf Hotel, on Easter Monday night. Tickets were 7/6 a double and 5/- a single. The event was advertised in the Gulgong Guardian, issue 63, 23 March 1872.
The oysters were transported by train to Wallerawang and then by coach to Gulgong. Oysters were on the menu at the luncheon given to Anthony Trollope during his visit to Gulgong 14th October 1871.
