GOOLMA STORE

1910 - GOOLMA STORE
Messrs. T. H. Marks and Co. are about to close their Goolma store, and to effect. that end they are now selling all their stock. I hear the store is to be still kept on by different proprietors, so no inconvenience will be experienced by the Goolma people.

ANNIE BURNS

Annie Burns (née Hunt) and infant Thomas Henry Norbert Burns.
The headstone is her mother’s - Bridget Hunt née Nixon.

Burns family, Goolma ca 1887
Source: Kylie Bennetts

Identities to be confirmed but suspected as follows:
  • The woman nursing the baby is Annie Burns (née Hunt) and the baby is her son Thomas Henry Norbert Burns.
  • The old lady is very likely Winifred Burns (née Rankin) and the old man may be her second husband Charles Kerny (a former convict, ??-1908). Winifred's first husband, Thomas, died in a droving accident in 1864.
  • I think the main family (the man and his wife and most of the children) are likely Thomas Burns/Byrne and his wife Mary Bassett. That would date the photo to exactly 1887 as Thomas died that year.
  • The girl in the back row (4th from left) is their daughter (Hannah) Annie Burns 1874–1953.
