Mary O'Connell nee McDonagh
Mary Margaret McDonagh was born in about 1857 in Ireland(?).
Mary's father was Dr Patrick Michael McDonagh of Maguiresbridge,
County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. Her mother's name was Isabella Maria Grant.
Dr Patrick Michael McDonagh died 24 June 1889 at his son John's
medical practice/hospital at 173 Macquarie Street. The cause of death
was cirrhosis of the liver and carcinoma of the liver. He was 62 years
old. By that time he had resided in NSW for 28 years, presumably
relocating to Australia with his family in about 1861. He was buried in
the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Petersham on 27 June 1889.
His children (presumably born in Ireland) were, at the time of his death:
- Mary Margaret, 32
- Annie C, 21
- John M, 30
One male and one female pre-deceased him.
Mary McDonagh's grandparents were Patrick Michael McDonagh, a grazier, and Isabel Flanagan.
Both Mary's father and her brother John McDonagh were doctors. Mary's father died in 1889, aged 62

McDONAGH - September 26, at her son's. Dr. J. M. McDonagh's residence, 14 College-street. Sydney, Isabella Maria, relict of the late Dr. P. McDonagh, and sister of the Very Rev. Dean Grant, D.D., of Bathurst.
The Funeral of the late Mrs. PATRICK McDONAGH will move from her son's Dr. J. M. McDonagh's residence 14 College street, Hyde Park on FRIDAY MORNING at 8 o’clock, for the Petersham Cemetery.

These various McDonaghs come to be in my family tree because Mary McDonagh married Patrick O'Connell of Goodiman.
1904 - [WEDDING]O'CONNELL-McDONAGH - January 9, 1904 at St. Patrick's Church, Sydney, by the Very Rev. Pere Le Rennetel, assisted by the Rev Father Piquet, Patrick O'Connell of Goodaman, third son of the late Terence O'Connell, of Black Willow NSW, to Mary Margaret, daughter of the late Dr P McDonagh, and sister of Dr. J. M. McDonagh, of Sydney.
Mary died in 1937 in Woollahra.
