Mary Ann WADE was the oldest child of Charles and Susan WADE. She was born on August 21 1882 at Slapdash Creek, Gulgong, NSW. "Mrs. WADE" was the witness to Mary Ann WADE's birth; this may well have been Mary Ann's grandmother, Elizabeth CARTER WADE as it is known that Elizabeth practised as a midwife.
Mary Ann married Charles TATTERSALL on March 29 1905 and they had seven sons and six daughters (see Mary Ann and Charles’ Family Group which follows). Oral history would suggest that Mary Ann and her family struggled financially but they were always supportive of and hospitable to others in need, too.
Like all her sisters and most other women of their time, Mary Ann was a very capable, resourceful and creative woman; apparently, she even made her own brooms and other domestic necessities and her creativity was very evident in the kitchen.
Mary Ann WADE TATTERSALL died at Reedy Creek on July 20 1965 (a month after her younger sister, Laura); she was buried in the Anglican section of Gulgong Cemetery.
Mary Ann WADE TATTERSALL was the great grandmother of Lianne CLARK (of Warren, NSW); Lianne provided some material for this WADE-CARR Family Tree Record.
