WADE, WILLIAM & HERB

William Carter Wade (born 1873 to Thomas Wade and Ellen nee Spradford) married Mary Matilda Lyons in 1897 in Gulgong. Their children were:
  • Agnes M was born in 1897 in Gulgong
  • Elsie Eileen Wade, born prematurely at Gulgong, died after 16 hours on 28 June 1899.
  • Robert George Wade, also born prematurely, died aged 9 days at Caledonian Lead on 6 July 1899.
William's wife, Mary Matilda, was born in Gulgong in 1875. Mary's father was Elijah Lyons (a gold miner) and her mother was Agnes Hoder. She married William Carter Wade at 21, died aged 25 from "ACUTE GENERAL PEROTONITIS" on 7 April 1901. William went on to have a second marriage and more children:

William Carter Wade from Dunedoo (1873 - 29 May 1940) married 18-year-old Lydia Jager (born 1884 - 16 Feb 1957). Their children included:

1932 - NOTIFICATION OF GRANTING OF SPECIAL LEASES
Special Lease 1930-9, Dunedoo. William Carter Wade.—The lease shall be subject to subsections 1, 2, 4 to 17, 19 to 22, and 23 of Regulation No. 106 (notified 27th November, 1931), and to following special condition:—No timber within that part of the lease which is covered by R. 62,543 for Public Utility shall be interfered with by ringbarkng or otherwise.

1947 - DEATH - Mr. J. J. Smith
With regret we report the death of a well known Dunedoo personality, Mr. John Joseph Smith, of Sawpit Gully, Dunedoo, at the age of 55 years. Mr. Smith passed away at the Dunedoo War Memorial Hospital on Saturday last, after a short illness.
The deceased was born at Condobolin and spent most of his early life in the Cowra district. He came to Dunedoo to reside over thirty years ago and was engaged in various rural occupations in the district. At the age of 24 years, he was married, at this town, to Miss Vera E. Brydon, and he is survived by his widow and seven children, viz., Mary (Mrs. Smith, 13 Hampstead Road, Auburn), Daniel Ross (Auburn), John (Dunedoo); Veronica (Mrs. Wade, St. Marys), Frederick, Allan and Patrick (all of Dunedoo). Two children predeceased him.
Interment took place in the Roman Catholic portion of the Dunedoo cemetery on Monday last, the funeral arrangements being in the hands of Gulgong Motor Funerals. Rev. Father Healy officiated at the graveside. We offer our sincere condolences to the bereaved family in their sad loss.

1948 - DEATH - Mrs. Vera Elizabeth Smith
The sad death occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bert. Smith, of Auburn, on Thursday, January 8, of Mrs. Vera Elizabeth Smith, a well-known resident of Dunedoo. The late Mrs. Smith was holidaying at the time and was apparently in good health, she had had several teeth extracted and was resting when she collapsed suddenly and passed away.
A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Brydon, deceased who was 51 years of age, spent practically the whole of her life-time in the Dunedoo district. Her husband, the late John Joseph Smith, predeceased her in the August of last year. The following family of sons and daughters are left to mourn their loss: Ross and Jack (Sydney), Fred., Keith and David (Dunedoo), Mrs. B. Smith (Auburn) and Mrs. H. Wade (St. Mary's). One son, Don, paid the supreme sacrifice in New Guinea during the war.
The remains were conveyed by train to Gulgong and thence by road to Dunedoo, the funeral taking place from her late residence to the Catholic portion of the Dunedoo cemetery. Rev. Father Healey performed the last sad rites. The funeral arrangements were in the hands of Mr. D. Whale, Gulgong, and Bennet Locomotive Funerals, Auburn.

1950 - Vera Elizabeth Smith, late of Dunedoo, N.S.W., widow, died on 8th January, 1948, intestate; an election to administer was filed on 10th May, 1950.
