Idle and Disorderly - Catherine Booth, better known as Scotch Kate, charged under the Vagrant Act as an idle and disorderly character. Arrested about midnight by Constable Fitzpatrick in Herbert Street, in company with 3 men. Numerous previous convictions. 6 months hard labour Mudgee goal.

1872 - Fatal Mining Accident 
Malcolm Bell met his death by a fall of earth at No.2 Black Lead. Donald Bell gave evidence, stated that the deceased was his cousin Malcolm Bell aged 33 native of Scotland. John Taylor miner gave evidence, as did John Jackson miner, Robert Roe, miner, deceased known to miners as ‘Bill’, second miner in hospital, inquest held at the Munster Hotel. Verdict accident.
